Etsy Fee Calculator

See what Etsy really takes — and what you keep.

Etsy stacks several fees on every sale: a listing fee, a transaction fee on the item price plus shipping, and payment processing. Together they can take a meaningful bite out of a low-price item, so it pays to run the numbers before you price.

This calculator itemizes each fee, then subtracts your item cost and actual shipping so you can see true profit per sale. Every rate is editable because Etsy fees vary by country and seller plan.

Formula

Etsy fees = $0.20 listing + 6.5% transaction + (3% + $0.25) processing

The transaction fee applies to the item price plus the shipping you charge the buyer (and gift wrap). Payment processing is charged per order. Offsite ads, when attributed, add 12–15% on top and can be entered as the ad rate.

How to calculate it

  1. Enter your listing price, item cost and the shipping you charge.
  2. Adjust the fee rates if your country or plan differs from the U.S. defaults.
  3. Add an offsite-ad rate if a meaningful share of orders come from Etsy ads.
  4. Compare the break-even price to your intended price before listing.

FAQ

How much does Etsy take per sale?

In the U.S. Etsy generally charges a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee on item price plus shipping, and payment processing of roughly 3% + $0.25 per order. Offsite ads can add 12–15% on attributed orders.

Does Etsy charge a fee on shipping?

Yes. The transaction fee is calculated on the item price plus the shipping and gift wrap you charge the buyer, which is why raising shipping often does not recover its full cost.

Can I avoid Etsy payment processing fees?

No. Etsy Payments processing applies to orders through Etsy. You can only reduce the impact by pricing for it.

How do I price for an Etsy profit target?

Use the break-even price as your floor, then add your target margin. Re-check whenever Etsy changes its fee schedule.
